Analysts from Piper Jaffray predict that Apple has sold between 400.000 and 500.000 new iPads during the first days of launch of the iPad 2. These numbers of sales shatter those of the first iPad.

According to a report from ABI Research, Apple’s App Store has generated 5.6 billion downloads in 2010. With this number of downloads, it is safe to say Apple is the biggest player yet.

Just like Nielsen, ComScore also calculated that Android has passed BlackBerry OS in the Unites States. According to ComScore, Android has 31.2% of the market making Google the dominant player.

According to Nielsen, RIM and Apple have been leading the smartphone market in the United Stated over the priod from November 2010 till February 2011. Both managed to get 27% of the market in that period.

US research bureau Lookout has calculated that Android Market grew 127% over the past six months. Apple’s growth in percentage is significantly lower with ‘just’ 44%.

Comscore has released it’s latest US smartphone market metrics through their MobileLens report. Android continues to grow in the market while Samsung is now the leading OEM.
GfK: Dutch Consumers Purchased 41.000 Tablets in December

According to research from GfK, Dutch consumers have purchased 41.000 tablets in December 2010. The majority of them were iPads from Apple. Samsung took second spot in the charts with about 2.000 Galaxy Tabs.

IDC: 17 Million Tablets Sold in 2010, iPad Dominates

According to research from IDC, vendors have shipped 17 million tablet computers in 2010. From Q2 to Q3, distribution grew 45.1%. The number of iPad sales in that period grew from 3.3 million in Q2 to 4.8 million in Q3.
