Read the rest of this entry »HP has announced the release of the sourcecode it has developed for the kernel of the HP TouchPad. HP initially released the HP TouchPad with their WebOS system on board. Since that failed, HP is clearly abandoning WebOS and allowing consumers to switch to Android.

HP acquired Palm and WebOS about one and a half year ago in the hope that it would bring HP the cutting edge technology they needed to become a big player in the smartphone and tablet markets.

A logical step as it would bring Samsung a well designed operating system.
