Nokia’s Czech department has started to invite Symbian developers to the Microsoft offices. There, the companies will help developers in their transition from Symbian development to Windows Phone.

While Nokia invested a lot in letting Symbian go open source under the Symbian Foundation, it seems the giant has changed it’s plans now it bought Symbian back. From now on, clients have to pay again.

Though Nokia has been reported to be sacking part of it’s Symbian developers, the vendor announced that it still expects to roll out three updates for the Symbian platform in 2011.

Opera has launched it’s own browser based app store called Opera Mobile Store. The app store is active in over 200 countries and supports platforms like Android, BlackBerry, Palm and Symbian.

The rumors are true, the Symbian Foundation is winding down, but symbian itself won’t. In fact, Nokia has announced it will be taking Symbian back in-house, not long after the EU funded it.

While we recently reported that cash reserves at Symbian had been drying up, the foundation now announced new funding coming straight from the good old European Commission.
