Intel has unveiled its new Studybook tablet. The 7” 1024×600 tablet is developed for emerging markets. It is water and shock-resistant (up to 70CM), cheap and will be running Windows 7 or Android OS.
The Studybook runs on a single-core 1.2Ghz Z650 CPU and has control over 1GB of RAM. For storage, Intel put in another 4GB of flashmemory. On the side of the tablet, consumers will have access to a micro-SD slot and a USB 2.0 port. On the back of the device, Intel mounted a 2 megapixel camera that can be used as a microscope through the use of an optional lens system. The thing connects over WiFi. Bluetooth, 3G and mini-HDMI are both optional.
The device as Intel unveiled it, is a reference device that OEM’s can purchase. Intel hopes these tablets will retail between $199 and $299.
