Nintendo 3DS Lands in 2011

September 29th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: DSiWare | 1 Comment »

Nintendo finally announced the releasedate for the Nintendo 3DS. The 3D console is expected to launch in Japan on February 26th while Europe will have to wait until sometime in March.

In Japan, Nintendo will charge 25.000 Yen for the device. That’s about €210, which makes the device slightly more expensive than the Nintendo Wii. The hardware hasn’t changed a lot from what we played with during Nintendo’s Post E3 event and the GamesCom. The biggest difference is the analogue stick that has a different color. Also, the stylus will be made of metal. Consumers will also receive a complimentary 2GB SD card.

Nintendo will also be expanding the DSiWare store with a virtual console where re-releases of old games can be bought. The virtual console will mainly hold titles that have been released on early Nintendo handhelds like the Gameboy Advance.

Exact launch dates and prices outside Japan remain unconfirmed.

    1. Classics should be available for free for newer versions of the same hardware
